Heed the gentler way
Heed the gentler way
by Joel Howard
“God’s order has to work up to a crisis in our lives because we will not heed the gentler way.” Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, 1935
While it’s now, even today
Son of man, heed the gentler way
Will you die? Will you pay?
Try to look the other way...
Away from sin which tempts again
Easier now than waiting until then
Easier now to choose the best
Easier now if you choose righteousness
I can’t count a man
I can’t remember when
Ever did man choose
Ever did man say
“God I choose you now”
Only to be let down
Yes it costs all things
But man what grace it brings!
You may like scarlet be
But Jesus makes it clean
It may leave you empty
But more filled than imagining!
It may cost your life
But you’ll never regret it
Never regret it
So come and get it!
Count the cost today
Child, come heed the gentler way
