Giving up on the hope of Spring
Giving up on the hope of Spring
by Joel Howard
I grew
was planted
and thrived
Thank God I'm alive!
But when winter came
I forgot my name
I forgot so much
I lost touch
Like trees giving up
on the hope of spring
like men on the hope of victory
like wives the day of their delivery
I had forgotten how to breathe
like a long lost tree!
Branches bare
Far from spring
That is who I tended to be
Thank God spring had not forgotten me!
And I am alive now
As alive as life can be
