Biography series: Helen Keller
Taken from me
by Joel Howard
Inspired by the life and childhood of Helen Keller
What a beautiful child!
What a beautiful child!
Healthy and whole
Healthy and whole
Meek and mild
Who would have known
That before the age of two
All would be taken
Away from you
Those two years
Those precious years
Before came to life
My unconscious fears
What I most dread
What I most fear
Came now to pass
I'm left in tears
The sobs
The strokes
On your little hair
What will become
Of you, Helen dear?
Will the world ever know
Who you may have become?
Will the world ever hear
Of my daughters and sons?
Helen, dear Helen
No matter what comes
Your father and mother
Will love you with love
So dear, so precious
We'll never forget
No matter what becomes of you
We'll never regret
Bringing you into the world
